Featured Listings FAQ

How free and Featured Listings work on SF Dance.

What is a free listing?
A free listing is a single event on one date, scheduled up to 31 days ahead. It appears in the calendar alongside every other event and goes into a moderation queue before it is published.
How long until my free listing appears?
Free listings enter review as soon as you submit them. Once an editor approves them they are published, usually within a day or two. You'll only be contacted if something needs correcting.
What does a Featured Listing cost?
A Featured Listing is a flat $149 one-time per submission, paid securely through Stripe. The price is set in the site's settings and shown on the submit form before you pay — what you see is what you pay, with no per-date or recurring fees on top.
What do I get with a Featured Listing?
Featured Listings support recurring events and multiple dates in a single submission, and each approved occurrence is flagged as featured so it gets prominent placement in the calendar, listings, and related event pages. On the calendar it is first in that day's list on every calendar view (desktop and phone), with a gold star. One payment covers every date in the submission.
How far ahead can I schedule a Featured Listing?
Featured Listings can be scheduled up to 3 months from today. If your series runs longer, submit a new batch before the current one expires and your new dates will pick up where the old ones left off.
Can I list a recurring weekly or monthly event?
Yes — recurring and multi-date events require the Featured tier. On the submit form, choose Featured, then pick your recurrence pattern (weekly, biweekly, monthly, or a custom list of dates). Every occurrence up to the 3-month cap is created from that single submission.
What is the 3-month cap?
No occurrence — free or featured — can be scheduled more than 3 months out. This keeps the calendar fresh: events on the site are real and upcoming, and stale entries are never left hanging. When your series approaches the cap, simply submit the next block of dates.
How does the approval process work?
Every submission — free or featured — goes into a moderation queue with a status of pending review. An editor checks that the details are accurate and complete, matches or creates the venue, and then publishes the event. Featured submissions only enter review after Stripe confirms payment.
What happens after I pay for a Featured Listing?
Right after checkout you are sent to a confirmation page while we confirm your payment with Stripe. The moment payment is confirmed your submission moves to pending review automatically — no extra step on your end. If confirmation takes longer than a minute, the page keeps checking and advances your listing as soon as Stripe responds.
Can my listing be rejected after I pay?
Yes. Payment puts your listing in line for review; it does not guarantee publication. If a listing is spam, duplicate, or otherwise not a fit, an editor can reject it. Stripe handles any refund through its own dashboard — SFDance does not issue refunds directly.
Do you edit my event details?
Editors may correct obvious typos, normalize the venue, or adjust formatting so the listing matches the rest of the calendar. The substance — title, date, time, price, description — stays yours.
Will my event stay on the site forever?
Past events are kept as an archive but are clearly marked as past. Upcoming events are the ones that appear in the live calendar, filters, and notifications.
Who can submit an event?
Anyone with a free SFDance account. Create an account on the submit page, fill in the event details, add a photo if you have one, and choose free or featured.
Where does my event photo appear?
Your photo shows on the event's own page and on its card in the calendar, venue, style, and search listings. JPG, PNG, WebP, or GIF up to 8 MB — landscape photos look best.
